Lighting fires, cooking outdoors, carving spoons- here at Wilder Horizons our Women's Adventure Weekends are wilder than you might expect...

There are plenty of outdoor retreats out there- walks in pretty places, yoga on the grass, maybe a bit of wild swimming. But here at Wilder Horizons CIC, we go deeper than that.

Our Women’s Adventure Weekends are about more than just “being outside.” They’re about learning practical bushcraft and wilderness skills, building genuine nature connection, and creating space for women to feel confident, capable, and completely at home in the wild.

Here’s how we do things differently:

🌲 1. It’s not just being in nature—it’s learning from it

There’s a big difference between walking through the woods and learning how to actually read the woods. On our weekends, you won’t just sit around admiring the view (though we do plenty of that too!)—you’ll start to understand how the natural world works, and how you fit into it.

Through guided activities like:

  • Fire lighting from scratch

  • Building shelters using natural materials

  • Carving wood with your own two hands

  • Cooking outdoors with confidence

  • Forest bathing and sensory mapping

You’ll develop a real, rooted relationship with nature—one that transforms how you experience the outdoors going forward.

🔥 2. Wilderness skills that stay with you

These weekends are about building your toolbelt for future adventures. Everything we do is designed to give you practical, hands-on skills you can use again and again—on camping trips, solo hikes, or just to feel more prepared in the wild.

Depending on the weekend you pick, you’ll leave with:

  • The ability to confidently set up a shelter

  • Fire lighting techniques using sparks, not matches

  • Outdoor cooking tips that actually work

  • Whittling and carving skills

  • A better sense of direction, awareness, and connection to the landscape

These aren’t just “fun activities”—they’re empowering skills that change how you feel in the outdoors.

🌕 3. Designed by women, for women

All of our weekends are women-led and women-centred. That means no macho vibes, no gatekeeping, and no pressure to know it all before you arrive.

Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned camper, you’ll be welcomed exactly as you are—with warmth, humour, and genuine support.

And because we keep our groups small, there’s always space to ask questions, move at your own pace, and have real conversations around the fire.

✨ 4. Nature connection that goes deeper

At the heart of every Wilder Horizons weekend is connection. Connection to nature, to yourself, and to other women. Through guided reflection, quiet moments in the landscape, and shared experiences under the stars, you’ll start to see and feel nature differently—not just as a backdrop, but as something you're part of.

And when you leave, that connection doesn't just stay in the woods. It weaves its way into your daily life—in how you walk, how you breathe, how you notice the world around you.

🥾 Ready to come and experience the difference?

If you’re looking for a weekend that’s more than just a break from everyday life—if you want to feel stronger, empowered, and more connected to the wild—you’re in the right place.

Our Women’s Adventure Weekends run throughout the year in stunning locations across North Wales, including full moon hikes up Yr Wyddfa, forest-based bushcraft retreats, and seasonal skills weekends for women at all levels.

Check out our upcoming events here and join an adventure.

I'd love to see you round the fire one weekend soon.
